On 28 November, a 17-day-long ordeal came to an end when 41 workers trapped inside the Uttarkashi's Silkyara Tunnel, were pulled out by rescue teams. While the advanced machinery failed after a point of time to liberate trapped workers, rescuers resorted to the assistance of a banned or outlawed practice known as "rat-hole" mining.
