Stand-up comedian Nishant Suri had to cancel his show in Bengaluru over non-payment of dues by the event organisers. He took to Instagram to share his experience and disappointment over the same and his post went viral with other comics backing his claim. This comes weeks after US comedian Trevor Noah cancelled two of his shows that were scheduled to take place in the city as part of his Off the Record world tour.

Suri shared a post about the cancellation of his gig that was supposed to happen in Bengaluru’s Phoenix Marketcity on October 13. He claimed that the event organisers, The Entertainment Factory, didn’t make the payment and even sent a forged screenshot of the money transfer. The “Comicstaan” comedian was already in the city but had to cancel at the last minute because the organisers had “ghosted” him and stopped picking up his calls.

He also tagged Phoenix Marketcity Bangalore in his post and slammed Mubin Tisekar, the founder of The Entertainment Factory. “I even got a call from the driver of the cab they arranged to pick me, saying he hasn’t been paid, and if I could do something about it,” he wrote.

Suri’s post went viral and comics such as Gaurav Gupta, Pavitra Shetty and Karan Singh, among others, shared their disappointment in the comments section as well.

“Totally fraud people,” Gupta wrote while Shetty added, “I have been following up since one year. Still haven’t got my money. Good call, cancelling the show.”

“Welcome to the club,” Singh wrote.

Baneet Chhabra, the manager of Suri’s show wrote, “This is my bad. Our friends in the Industry warned us. I was a fool to give them another chance.”

Meanwhile, Emmy-award winning comedian Noah cancelled two of his shows at Manpho Conventional Centre in Manyata Tech Park due to a technical glitch, as the audience couldn’t hear him.

"Dear Bengaluru India, I was so looking forward to performing in your amazing city but due to technical issues we’ve been forced to cancel both shows," Trevor Noah wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "We tried everything but because the audience can’t hear the comedians on stage there’s literally no way to do a show."
