As per officials, after a landslide, traffic moving on the Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway (NH 5) resumed on Tuesday through a single lane as landslides had forced the shutdown of the Chandigarh-Shimla and Chandigarh-Manali national highways.

After conducting an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Himachal Pradesh, CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, "I have conducted the aerial survey and have decided to send officials to the flood-affected areas. We had discussions with PM Modi, BJP president JP Nadda, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi regarding this. We are going to start evacuation at several places in the state. Alternate routes will be prepared for the roads that are completely damaged. The floods have caused severe damage to the state. Our attempt is to restore electricity and provide fresh water at the earliest."
"Since the onset of monsoon on June 24 till yesterday, We have around 72 deaths reported and 8-10 are missing following heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh. Over 73 houses have been damaged and 373 animals have died. Over Rs 761 crores worth of properties have been damaged," Onkar Chand Sharma, Revenue & Disaster Management principal secretary said about the ongoing flood situation in Himachal Pradesh.
"Congress has called off the scheduled 'Maun Satyagrah' in four states (Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh) which are affected due to heavy rain and flood. It will now take place on 16th July," said Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal.
Significant rainfall has been observed in many regions. Rishikesh, Uttarakhand (31 cm), Chandigarh Iaf, Haryana (21 cm), Behat, West Uttar Pradesh (21 cm), Sirhind, Punjab (14 cm),Sheoganj,East Rajasthan (13 cm) received a notable quantity.
IMD has issued a red alert for Uttarakhand. Besides that, heavy rain is predicted in northwest Uttar Pradesh. Significant rain has stopped in Himachal, while light to moderate rain is expected in the Delhi/NCR area.
