Domino’s Pizza Japan has apologised after a video of one of its employees picking his nose and wiping his finger on the pizza dough went viral. In a post on X, the company issued an apology for “any discomfort or inconvenience the disturbing video caused to our customers.”

In the clip, an employee was seen picking his nose with the left index finger of his gloved hand and then wiping it on pizza dough, Kyodo News reported. The incident was severely condemned on social media.

Domino’s stated that the video was filmed by a part-time employee at a store in Amagasaki City around 2 am on Monday and that no pizza dough had been used. It was all disposed of.

The company suspended operations in the location on the same day and fired both employees on Tuesday, Japan Today reported. It added that the store in question had suspended operations and that the employees involved in the video would be punished following employment regulations. Legal action was also being considered, it added.

In the apology, Domino's Pizza vowed to ensure that “something like this never happens again.” “We deeply apologise for making our valued customers uncomfortable,” The Japan Times quoted it as saying.
