Sundar Pichai shares Chennai man's pic on Diwali, Priyanka Chopra drops a heart

Diwali 2023: Sundar Pichai posted his Diwali wishes on Sunday.

Googe CEO Sundar Pichai on Sunday extended his Diwali wishes, sharing a photo clicked by a Tamil Nadu-based photographer. The Chennai-born tech leader said the photo was clicked on a Google Pixel phone as he followed the tradition set by Apple CEO Tim Cook who, on every Diwali, shares photos clicked on iPhone by users in India.

“In honor of Diwali celebrations this weekend, enjoying photos taken by #TeamPixel over the years - here’s one from @madhanmohan_r. Wishing all who celebrate a fun and festive Diwali,” Pichai wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo clicked by photographer Madhan Mohan Ram.

The photo from October last year features a girl celebrating Diwali by lightning sparklers.

The Google Pixel user, who has over 3,000 followers on Instagram, thanked Sundar Pichai for sharing his photo.

A delighted Ram wrote in comments under the Google boss’s post, “Thanks a lot @sundarpichai sir wishing you very happy Diwali to you and your family.”

Among those who dropped a ‘like’ on Pichai’s post was actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Sundar Pichai had also shared insights into what people searched on Google in the one week leading up to Diwali. The top five searches on Google included questions such as “Why do Indians celebrate Diwali?” and “Why oil bath on Diwali?”.

Meanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook sent out his Diwali wishes by sharing a photo clicked by an Indian iPhone 15 user, Chandan Khanna.

The picture appeared to be clicked in one of the ghats of Uttar Pradesh and showed devotees releasing sky lanterns to celebrate the festival of light.

A photographer with international news agency AFP, Khanna is currently based in Miami, US, but was earlier based in Delhi. Responding to Cook's post, he took to Instagram and thanked the Apple CEO for his "constant love and support".
