One of the biggest sporting highlights of 2023 was the performance of Indian chess player R Praggnanandhaa at the World Cup held in Baku, Azerbaijan where he won a silver medal.
The 18-year-old on Friday found support from Adani Group Chairman and industrialist Gautam Adani who wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Praggnanandhaa's success was an inspiration to "countless young Indians" and felt that the Chennai lad represented what the country can and will be all about.
"It's a privilege to support Praggnanandhaa as he continues to win laurels in the world of chess and make India proud. His success is an inspiration to countless young Indians to believe that nothing is more gratifying than standing on the podium to celebrate our nation's greatness."
"Praggnanandhaa represents what India can and will be all about. I wish him all the very best. Jai Hind," Adani wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

Praggnanandhaa had entered the final after defeating two out of the top three rated players in the world and his performance at the World Cup helped him become only the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to clinch a spot in the Candidates tournament.
