Seizing the opportunity to increase its footprint, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev's company Patanjali Ayurved has signed up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) sponsorship race.

The 13th edition of the IPL is set to begin in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September. Chinese brand Vivo was supposed to be the title sponsor, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to drop them after facing immense backlash online.

The rhetoric against Chinese goods has been growing stronger in the country since several soldiers were martyred during the Galwan Valley clashes between Indian and Chinese troops.

Since the Chinese mobile manufacturing company was dropped as IPL 2020 title sponsor, BCCI has been on the look out for sponsors. Byju’s, Patanjali, Coca Cola, and Amazon are among big names that are in the fray.

Regardless of what the outcome is and which firm bags the deal, Twitter has been cackling ever since the news broke. Patanjali’s announcement has started a meme fest on Twitter, with all the mister and miss funny bones cracking us up and how.
