Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, were spotted at Third Wave Coffee, a popular café chain in Bengaluru recently. The couple, who were seen placing their order at the counter before sitting down at a table, appeared relaxed in pictures clicked by enthusiastic locals who shared them on social media. Local patrons at the café, thrilled by the surprise, eagerly approached the duo for selfies, which they obliged.

Sunak, was dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, was accompanied by Murty, who opted for a pastel-colored kurta. Social media users quickly took to platforms like Threads to share the moment, with one café-goer commenting, “Spotted Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty right across from my table at Third Wave. It really does pay off going to Third Wave guys.”

The high-profile couple’s visit wasn’t just limited to the café. Sunak, 44, and Murty, along with Murty's parents—Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy and author-philanthropist Sudha Murty—also paid a visit to the Sri Raghavendra Swami Mutt in Jayanagar, seeking blessings.

Rishi Sunak’s connection to India has always attracted attention, both in Britain and India. His historic tenure as the first British-Indian Prime Minister, which lasted from October 2022 until his resignation in July 2023, marked a milestone in British politics.

While Sunak’s return to Bengaluru may have stirred curiosity, not all social media responses were celebratory. Amid a slew of posts and comments, some users humorously joked about Sunak's ties to Infosys, his in-laws’ company.

“So that's true! He now works in Electronic City Infosys office, 70 hours a week!” jested one user, while another questioned the fuss over the café sighting, saying, “They sat across! So? They too deserve some privacy!” Another joked: "Must be Ashish Nehra."

Bengaluru, accustomed to VIP visits, also welcomed King Charles and Camilla recently when they visited the city for a wellness retreat in Whitefield.
