A heated argument between residents of a Noida society over a pet dog culminated with a retired IAS officer slapping the pet owner. According to news reports, the retired IAS officer, RP Gupta, objected to three people carrying their pet dog inside the society lift without a muzzle.
In CCTV footage of the incident, the two parties can be seen arguing inside the lift of Park Laureate Society in Noida Sector 108. As their argument escalated, the woman snatched Gupta’s mobile phone and threw it away. The retired IAS officer then slapped her.
According to News 9 Live, police said that Gupta had entered the lift when he saw the pet dog standing inside without a muzzle to cover his mouth. During his verbal spat with the dog’s owner, he started filming the incident and the woman snatched his phone. This led to Gupta slapping the woman multiple times.
Hearing the commotion, the woman’s husband entered the scene of the altercation and slapped the retired civil servant. It took the intervention of security officers to separate the two men and bring the escalating fight under control.

Conflicts over pets have become increasingly common in housing societies in Noida. In a similar incident in July, a Noida woman was seen arguing with her society’s residents and refusing to muzzle her pet dog.
As per Noida Authority's new pet guidelines released last year, all pet owners must register their dogs. In case a pet injures a person, the pet owner will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 and bear the treatment expenses of the injured, according to the guidelines.
