Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata on Monday refuted claims being circulated on WhatsApp and social media that he would give a reward of Rs 10 crore to cricketer Rashid Khan after he was allegedly fined Rs 55 lakh by the ICC for waving the Indian flag after Afghanistan beat Pakistan at the world cup last week.
"I have made no suggestions to the ICC or any cricket faculty about any cricket member regarding a fine or reward to any players," Ratan Tata posted on X, formerly Twitter. "I have no connection to cricket whatsoever."
He further requested that people not trust such WhatsApp forwards and videos unless they are originally shared from his official channels of communication.

Earlier in June, Ratan Tata had taken to X again to rubbish rumours surrounding his investment in cryptocurrency.
"This is an extremely important announcement. If you see any articles or ads mentioning my association with cryptocurrency, they are absolutely untrue and meant to scam citizens," the chairman emeritus of the Tata Group stated. He then went on to expose an example of a news report that falsely claimed his involvement in cryptocurrency investments. The headline read: "Analysis: Ratan Tata's recent investment has experts in disbelief and major banks concerned."
Ratan Tata further urged netizens to remain vigilant and stay away from such fraudulent schemes, reiterating, "I have no associations with cryptocurrency of any form."
