The photo, taken during an awards ceremony in New York, showed the tech billionaire and the Italian leader sharing a smile, prompting online discussions about their interaction.

Dr Simon Goddek, a science journalist, posted the image with a caption implying more to the story. His remark caught the attention of Maye Musk, who swiftly responded. Reposting the image, she clarified, "I went back to the hotel with Elon." Her post, intended to put the rumours to rest, attracted widespread attention, garnering over 2.6 million views on X.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, also reacted to his mother’s response, simply replying, “True.” The straightforward exchange between the two further quelled the circulating dating rumours between Musk and Meloni.

The viral post sparked a flood of reactions online, with many praising Maye Musk’s direct response. One user commented, “People are disrespectful. Even if he did, it’s no one’s business,” while another wrote, “Mama Musk isn’t here to play those games.” Others expressed their amusement, with one user calling it their “favourite post of the week.”

During his remarks, he praised her leadership, stating she was doing an “incredible job” as prime minister and lauded her authenticity and honesty, qualities he noted were not always present in political figures.

Maye Musk later added to her initial comment, writing, "I was sitting next to Elon. I also looked at Giorgia with admiration." This reinforced the family's stance against the ongoing gossip, which had escalated into claims of a potential relationship.

This isn’t the first time Musk and Meloni have been linked in the media. Similar speculations arose in December 2023 after Musk attended a political event in Rome at Meloni’s invitation. However, Musk shut down the rumours once again, responding to an X post questioning if they were dating with a firm, “Not dating.”
