Hindenburg Research founder Nate Anderson has said that a British DJ who plays in Bali had a big impact on him at a "pivotal time". In a personal note--in which he announced that the US-based short-selling firm is wrapping up its operations--Anderson also urged his readers and supporters to listen to Lee Burridge's music.
"If you are chasing something you think you want or need, or are doubting whether you are enough, take a minute and give this a listen. It had a big impact on me at a pivotal time," he wrote as a postscript to his lengthy goodbye note on the Hindenburg Research website with a link to Burridge's video on YouTube.
Several fresh comments on the video indicate that a number of users had indeed visited the video by clicking on the hyperlink on Hindenburg Research's site.
"Hidenburg sent me here !!!!! Enjoy your retirement big dawg," commented a user, while another wrote: "Who is watching this because of Hindenburg?"
The video was uploaded four years ago and has more than 12 million views.
Why Nate Anderson is disbanding Hindenburg
“There is not one specific thing — no particular threat, no health issue and no big personal issue,” Anderson wrote in a letter posted on the firm’s website Wednesday. “The intensity and focus has come at the cost of missing a lot of the rest of the world and the people I care about. I now view Hindenburg as a chapter in my life, not a central thing that defines me.”
Anderson, 40, made international waves in January 2023, publishing a report accusing Adani of “pulling the largest con in corporate history.” The Indian tycoon ranked as the world’s fourth-richest person at the time, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. In quick succession, Hindenburg Research also published reports on Dorsey’s Block Inc. and Icahn’s Icahn Enterprises.
All three financiers and their businesses adamantly disputed Hindenburg’s assertions and saw their collective wealth fall by as much $99 billion while their publicly traded companies lost as much as $173 billion of market value.
