Dubai, a city known for its relentless pace, ground to a halt on Monday evening as a massive traffic jam paralysed Sheikh Zayed Road after a Ferrari accident.

The congestion, which snarled traffic from Dubai Marina to Sharjah, left commuters stranded in a never-ending sea of vehicles from 6:30 pm on Monday evening.

The evening's chaos was a result of an accident involving a Ferrari near Dubai Internet City which saw the luxury car go up in flames leading to bottlenecks. No injuries or casualties have been reported in connection with this incident.

In a city that prides itself on efficiency and top-notch infrastructure, such unforeseen events are a stark reminder that even Dubai can succumb to traffic woes. It is not yet clear what caused the accident or who was involved.

'Lovin Dubai' shared photographs of the incident and the crippling traffic and also shared a clip of the damaged red car as captured by a passerby on video.

Other users too shot videos of the serpentine queues of cars on the road.

Another user tweeted, "Saw a Ferrari burning on the motorway today. Welcome to Dubai, I guess."
