Vedanta's Anil Agarwal muses on Father's Day: 'Our parents may not be with us but...'

Anil Agarwal said his father would always say that every problem can be resolved if you talk it out and it is also the foundation for any relationship. 'This is also the lesson I taught my children,' the 70-year-old Vedanta chairperson added.

On Father's Day, Vedanta founder and chairperson Anil Agarwal shared a lesson his father Dwarka Prasad Agarwal had taught him while trying to boost his morale during a difficult phase.

Agarwal also shared a throwback picture from his childhood and wrote, "During my years of struggle in Bombay, ek shaam main aur Bauji Marine Drive pe baithe the (one evening my father and I were sitting at Marine Drive). He asked me to take a break and go back home to Patna with him for a few days. I was upset and silent."

Dwarka Prasad Agarwal was trying to boost his son's morale with his own stories of struggle but even though it did not help Anil Agarwal feel much better, it built his confidence to try harder, he said.

According to the Vedanta boss, his father would always say that every problem can be resolved if you talk it out and it is also the foundation for any relationship. "This is also the lesson I taught my children," the 70-year-old said.

"In life, there comes a time when our parents may not be with us but their sanskar, life lessons and blessings stay with us and keep guiding us. Aaj jab mere bachhon ne mujhe wish kiya Happy Father's Day, toh mujhe bhi apne bauji ko thank you bolne ka mann kiya (When my children wished me a 'Happy Father's Day' today, I felt like thanking my father)," Agarwal said.

The senior Agarwal was associated with Vedanta Foundation -- the philanthropic arm of the Vedanta Group. During the initial years, he made aluminum conductors in Patna where his son grew up. He died at 87 in January 2020.
