Netflix announces 22 titles including Heeramandi and Mismatched season 3

Next on Netflix: Netflix has announced new titles, including Murder Mubarak based on Club You to Death by Anuja Chauhan, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar starring Manisha Koirala among others, and The Great Indian Kapil Show.

As per their annual tradition, Netflix has announced a slate of new titles for 2024. At a glittering event in Mumbai titled Next on Netflix, the streaming platform announced more than 20 titles including new shows, new films, documentaries and returning seasons of popular shows. Comedian and actor Zakir Khan was the master of ceremonies and introduced the media to the new projects. Here’s a look at Netflix’s offerings for this year:

Amar Singh Chamkila

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film is based on the true story of Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses, Amar Singh Chamkila. Chamkila emerged from the shadows of poverty and rose to the heights of popularity in the '80s with his music - he was assassinated at the young age of 27. Chamkila is played by Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh. The cast includes Parineeti Chopra. The music of the film is by A.R. Rahman. The film is expected to release on April 12.

Do Patti

Kriti Sanon produces and stars in Do Patti, a thriller set against the breathtaking backdrop of North India's mountains. There is suspense, emotion and drama. Joining hands with Kriti onscreen is the powerhouse performer Kajol.

Maharaj

Inspired by true events, Maharaj is set in the 1800s and narrates how a journalist takes on a powerful role model of society, hailed by many as a messiah for the masses. The film stars Junaid Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sharvari in pivotal roles.

Murder Mubarak

Homi Adajania’s film Murder Mubarak is based on the novel Club You To Death by Anuja Chauhan. Pankaj Tripathi plays a detective who is in charge of finding out the culprit from seven suspects, including Vijay Varma, Sara Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and others.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba

The intriguing story of Haseen Dillruba continues in this sequel to the 2021 film starring Taapsee Pannu (as Rani) and Vikrant Massey (as Rishu). Now residing in the city of Agra, Rani lives as a paying guest and Rishu lives under the alias Ravi Varma. Whether they will be able to evade arrest this time forms the crux of the thriller.

Sikandar Ka Muqaddar

Neeraj Pandey’s heist thriller that spans across 18 years has been shot across multiple locations in India and abroad.

Vijay 69

Anupam Kher is in the titular role of a 69-year-old man who decides to compete in a triathlon. The quirky, slice-of-life film is produced by Maneesh Sharma and directed by Akshay Roy for YRF Entertainment.

Wild Wild Punjab

Produced by Luv Ranjan, the film is about a group of drunk boys who decide to avenge a friend’s breakup by crashing his ex's wedding and achieve closure. The film stars Varun Sharma, Sunny Singh, Manjot Singh and Jassie Gill in the lead.

Dabba Cartel

With a formidable star cast including Shabana Azmi, Jyotika, Shalini Pandey, Nimisha Sajayan, Anjali Anand, Gajraj Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Lillete Dubey and Jisshu Sengupta, among others, this series is about five ordinary women who go on a series of adventures that see them begin distributing drugs through a 'dabba' delivery business.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali creates a timeless saga for the streaming platform with this epic saga of power, love, betrayal and struggle. Set against the world of Heeramandi where courtesans reign as queens, the show stars Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sonakshi Sinha, among others.

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack

Director Anubhav Sinha helms this series based on real life events. On 24 December 1999, Indian Airlines flight IC 814, en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi, was hijacked and taken to Kandahar in Taliban-governed Afghanistan. This is the story of those seven days which became the longest hijack in Indian history.

Khakee: The Bengal Chapter

Creator Neeraj Pandey moves from the badlands of Bihar to the ganglands of Bengal - In their next chapter set in Kolkata in 2003 when two honest cops go after a dreaded don and his fierce henchmen.

Kota Factory Season 3

The third season of the beloved show sees students brace themselves for the all-important IIT JEE exam. As always, they have the unwavering encouragement and support from Jeetu Bhaiya.

Maamla Legal Hai

Releasing on March 1, the courtroom comedy is set within the fictional confines of Patparganj District Court and explores the world of law through the eyes of its eccentric lawyers.

Mandala Murders

A genre-bending crime thriller, Mandala Murders sees detectives Rea Thomas and Vikram Singh being thrust into a dark world where bone-chilling murders are not just random acts of violence but also part of a sinister plan orchestrated by a century-old secret society. The show stars Vaani Kapoor and Vaibhav Raj Gupta in leading roles.

Mismatched Season 3

Dimple and Rishi are back to tug at your heartstrings. This time they are in a brand new city in a whole new dynamic, facing each other in two competing institutes.

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2

Following the success of Season 1 of Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein, the makers are back with its second season of the thrilling drama with more plot twists than before. Tahir Raj Bhasin, Anchal Singh, Shweta Tripathi, Gurmeet Chaudhary and Arunoday Singh among others star in the series.

Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives

The cozy world of the Bollywood Wives - Seema Khan, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavana Pandey and Neelam Kothari Soni - is in for a shake-up as three new divas from the swank capital of India, Delhi, join the proceedings. Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Shalini Passi and Kalyani Saha Chawla join in the fun and are ready to give the Bollywood wives a glimpse of their swankier lives.

The Great Indian Kapil Show

Some of India's most loved comedians including Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek among others feature in this variety chat show set in the bustling confines of an airport and features prominent celebrity guests every week.

The Greatest Rivalry - India vs Pakistan

The docu-series is filled with emotions, cricketing action and humor as it presents two sides of a coin - the competitiveness and unlikely camaraderie shared between the two cricket teams- India and Pakistan. Featuring legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, Shoaib Akhtar, Ravi Ashwin, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saurav Ganguly, and many others – this is a dive into the greatest rivalry known to any cricket fan.

To Kill a Tiger

Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous

Directed by Mozez Singh, this is the journey of hip-hop artist & rapper, Yo Yo Honey Singh and a deep-dive into his rollercoaster life and the sudden public disappearance at the peak of his exalted career. Honey Singh, for the first time, finally opens up about his personal life in a rare, honest and revelatory way, much to the excitement of the industry and his fans.
