Andhra Bank will launch Bharat Bill Payment Service soon to enable customers make all utility bill payments.

"RBI gave its approval two days ago for us to launch this service and it should hopefully be operational by September," Andhra Bank managing director and CEO Suresh N Patel said.

Addressing a press conference here this evening, Patel said the bank would also soon launch User Payment Interface that enables customers to carry out money transfers using their mobiles.

The MD and CEO said Andhra Bank was focusing on delivery of services using technology under the JAM (Jandhan-Aadhaar- Mobile) initiative.

"We have launched a number of IT initiatives for convenient banking experience. By providing details of their Aadhaar and mobile number, customers can make better use of our services on the mobile platform," he added.

Patel, who met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu presented a cheque for Rs 50 lakh for the CM Relief Fund, said the bank would appoint women of self-help groups as banking correspondents.

"We will do it on a pilot basis in one district and depending on the outcome will try to replicate it. As such we already have a wide network of BCs who are doing well," he said.

Andhra Bank signed an MoU with AP government for extending loans to investors ready to invest in different projects in the state's new capital Amaravati, Patel said.
