Former Haryana minister and main accused in the Geetika Sharma suicide case, Gopal Goyal Kanda, on Saturday claimed that he has been framed in the case. Adding that the media has been misguided in the case, Kanda, who was the chairman of the now-defunct MDLR Airlines in which Geetika used to work as an air hostess, said that there is a conspiracy and an attempt to tarnish his reputation.

Meanwhile, Kanda's police custody ends on Saturday and he is scheduled to appear before the court later in the day. Kanda, one of those named in Geetika's suicide note, had surrendered to the police in a dramatic fashion early on August 18, after absconding for 13 days.

Kanda has reportedly told the police that he was not in touch with Geetika Sharma for the past 45 days.

Adding that the media has been misguided, Gopal Kanda says that it is an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
Meanwhile, the police have gotten in touch with Ankita, another person who had been named by Geetika in her suicide note. Ankita is currently out of the country and will be questioned soon.

Meanwhile, the questioning of MDLR employee Shivroop continues. Police officials said that he may be arrested soon.

The Delhi Police on Thursday took former the Haryana minister for a routine medical examination to a hospital on court orders. The police also claim that Geetika wanted to end all relations with Kanda and the MDLR Airlines.

However, the police said, the former minister was determined to not let Geetika go. The Delhi Police also feel that Geetika had become a victim of false promises coupled with threats from Kanda.

Based on the claims, the Delhi Police is slated to seek an extension of the custody of the former minister on Saturday.

The 23-year-old former employee of the Kanda-owned MDLR Group committed suicide on August 5 alleging mental harassment at the hands of Kanda and a senior executive of MDLR, Aruna Chadha.
