Liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep Chadha have been killed after they fired at each other at a farmhouse in Delhi's Chhattarpur area on Saturday afternoon. A security guard of the farmhouse, which is at 42 Mali Village in Chhattapur, has been injured and admitted to Fortis Hospital in Delhi's Vasant Kunj.

The police reached the spot after they received a call about the firing. Police officials called the firing a case of personal feud. They say that the two brothers were having an argument over a real estate deal and soon the argument turned into an altercation following which the firing took place resulting in the death of both.

His brother's wife reportedly told the police that Ponty Chadha fired at her husband, who was also fired at by the guard. The guard was also injured in the retaliatory firing.

But preliminary investigation show that Ponty's brother fired the first shot. Police are banking on the injured security guard's statement to unravel the entire sequence of events.

Ponty Chadha's real name was Gurpreet Chadha and he was the sole liquor distributor in Uttar Pradesh. He also had business interests in real estate, sugar mills and film production.

The meteoric rise of Ponty Chadha had led to a lot of speculation about the real source of his wealth and his political affiliations. He was considered to be very close to Bhaujan Samaj Party.
