A young Chinese tourist narrowly escaped a fatal mishap when her attempt to record a selfie video while leaning out of a moving train in Sri Lanka went horribly wrong. The woman, who had been holding onto the train's railing while leaning back, was struck by tree branches, causing her to fall out of the carriage in a terrifying accident caught on camera.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, was captured in chilling footage; the woman’s arm is seen flailing in panic as she is dragged out of the train. Passengers aboard screamed in horror, and the man recording the video shouted helplessly as the woman disappeared from view.

Fortunately, the tourist survived the fall with minor injuries. The train was halted at the next stop, and passengers rushed to assist her. Her fall was broken by bushes along the tracks, sparing her from more severe harm.

Local authorities have since reiterated the importance of adhering to safety measures on trains.

This incident recalls a separate incident in 2019 when a woman in San Francisco was dragged under a train after her finger became trapped in a closing door. The CCTV footage from the city’s Embarcadero station captured the horrifying ordeal as she was pulled onto the tracks despite shouting and bystanders banging on the train to alert the operator.

In another incident, a woman in Turkey was hit by a train while taking pictures near the train tracks with friends. She, too, survived with injuries to her hand.
