At CNN’s 'SheShakti2024' event, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud took centre stage alongside renowned singer Usha Uthup, offering a surprise rendition of the classic song "Summer Wine." The song, originally performed by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra, added a nostalgic touch to the event, which celebrated the achievements of women.

As Uthup led the performance, she playfully urged the Chief Justice to join her in singing, creating a light-hearted moment that drew applause from the audience. His wife, Kalpana Das, looked on with a smile as the duo harmonised to the song’s lyrics.

Just days before the event, on September 11, 2024, CJI Chandrachud hosted a Ganpati Puja at his residence in New Delhi. The ceremony saw the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who joined the event in traditional Maharashtrian attire. The Prime Minister later shared a message on social media, saying, “Joined Ganesh Puja at the residence of CJI, Justice DY Chandrachud Ji. May Bhagwan Shri Ganesh bless us all with happiness, prosperity, and wonderful health.” The video of the event featured the warm reception of PM Modi by CJI Chandrachud and his wife.

Meanwhile, Usha Uthup, is a stalwart of Indian pop, jazz, and playback music. Known for her deep, powerful voice and pioneering contributions to Indian pop music, Uthup has been a household name since the 1970s. In 2024, she was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for her enduring influence on Indian music.
