Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho Gaucho arrived in Kolkata for his two-day visit on Sunday. The 43-year-old footballer landed at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport to a huge crowd of fans who were eagerly waiting for him.
The star visited the Sreebhumi Durga Puja Pandal and offered his prayers while inaugurating the pandal.

Ronaldinho also played football at the Sree Bhumi Sporting Club in Kolkata and played with Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Sujit Bose. He interacted with young players and trainees. The footballer is expected to play an exhibition match between Diamond Harbour FC and Sree Bhumi Sporting Club at the Bata Maidan and Stadium, Maheshtala, on October 17.

Ronaldinho, the three-time Ballon d’Or winner, met with Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal’s Chief Minister and also gifted her a jersey.

The footballer posted about his trip on Facebook. In the post, he also talked about the purpose of his visit. "Hello Everybody, I will be doing my maiden trip to Kolkata this mid-October and will participate in many charitable activities including visiting my R10 Football academy where I will interact with kids at Merlin Rise. Will also see the many cultural aspects and be part of the Durga Puja Festivities by visiting Shree Bhumi Sporting, Ahirtola Yuvak Brindo, Baruipur, Green Park & Rishra.”
“Moreover, I will also be part of a charity football match and also grace Diamond Harbour FC ground. I would also interact with sponsors and many felicitation programs and promote the beautiful game. I know Kolkata has huge Brazil fans and I am very excited to meet them,” he added.
“It would be a huge honour to meet the Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal and gift her a jersey. I know cricket is very popular and this time I want to learn cricket from Bengal’s ‘Dada’” he wrote further.
The FIFA World Cup winner is also expected to meet former Indian cricketer and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly during his trip.
