Udita Pal, takes pride in living alone in her 3-BHK penthouse near Bengaluru's Indiranagar. The 28-year-old co-founder of a fintech firm recently went viral after she highlighted the perks of living by herself and shared pictures of her heavily-stocked and properly maintained house.
"Perks of living alone? My house has looked like this since Friday morning. Five months of solo living and the greatest perk is that if you don't mess up your house, nobody does," Pal, a Forbes 30 Under 30-Asia-Finance & Venture Capital alumnus, said on X.

The post resonated with thousands of X users and speaking to Moneycontrol, Pal said the response was unprecedented. The co-founder of Salt Pe said that she had bought the house close to Baiyappanahalli metro station two years ago and until six months ago was living with friends and flatmates, one of them being the second co-founder of the company.
"He got married and moved out. And immediately after, I was very scared," Pal said. "I would call my parents or ask my friends to come over, but gradually I got more comfortable with my own company. One day, I suddenly felt like cleaning up the house and I went Marie Kondo on my things. There were so many things around that I did not need. I kept thinking I bought the house 1.5 years ago, why did I wait for my flatmates to leave before deep cleaning it?"
Now, however, Pal -- a self-professed hoarder -- has surrounded herself only with things that hold meaning to her. For example, she made a painting based on a popular meme showing her and her friends fighting over food while her dog steals it amid the confusion. "It is one of my favourite things in the house," the fintech entrepreneur said.
Another one of her favorites is a vinyl clock which Pal said was available on Amazon for Rs 9,000 but she bought a vinyl record for Rs 20 and crafted a clock out of it for herself.

"Not if you have borderline OCD," laughed Pal, adding that she loves cleaning up the house and usually reserves Sunday for it. She said that she also has a househelp and gets the house professionally cleaned once a month.
"I have a sense of liberty and freedom when I live here by myself," Pal told the publication. "There is also a difference between living alone and being alone; a lot of people don't understand that."
She added that despite revelling in her company, Pal also has stout security measures in place. "I have cameras, motion detectors, and a specially trained dog to protect myself," she said. "It is scary sometimes, but I really love living alone, when you respect your place, others do it as well."
