At a recent concert in London, celebrated playback singer Arijit Singh made headlines not just for his soulful music, but for an emotional moment that resonated with the audience. Known for his deeply moving performances, Singh’s interaction with a fan highlighted how personal his connection with his listeners can be.
During the concert, Singh noticed a woman in the audience visibly moved to tears while he was performing. The woman named Aarti Khetarpal, as later revealed in an Instagram post, was overwhelmed with memories of a past relationship that ended in heartbreak. As she recounted, Arijit Singh, mid-performance, sat on the stage and made eye contact with her before continuing to sing. It was during his rendition of "O Sajni" that Singh gestured to her, asking her to wipe her tears and smile, even offering words of comfort: “forgive and forget.”
Khetarpal later shared her experience on Instagram, where she described the moment as more than a coincidence. “God sends signs, and tonight’s Arijit Singh concert was proof. As soon as he started singing his emotional songs, memories of my ex flooded back...In that moment, Arijit—without knowing why I was crying—sang, consoled, and said, ‘forgive and forget.’ It felt like God was speaking through him in that moment,” she wrote.
"I’m sure some of you can relate, while others may not. Tonight’s concert will forever be a core memory to re-write ‘love’ & start a new story. Sharing this because God truly sends signs; we just have to pause and listen!" she added.
The incident quickly went viral, with the video touching many hearts online. Fans across social media praised the singer not only for his music but for his compassion. One user wrote, “Arijit Singh is not just an artist; he’s a healer,” while others shared their admiration for how Singh, through his music, manages to connect deeply with his audience.
"Watching Arijit live is a once in a lifetime experience. He can make you cry, sing, dance & smile - all at the same time!"
"That's why he is a legend," a third user remarked.
A user shared a personal anecdote and wrote, "A man with a golden heart. Saying this from personal experience. I've been to his concert. A girl got injured amidst the crowd, and he stopped his music to attend the girl. He explained all his fans, to maintain the basic decorum in a concert. He didn't scream or scold anyone, he lovingly explained it to us, as if we were his siblings. Then he asked the security guards to take the girl and provide first aid. This man is something else. Singing 4 hours straight, without any break, interacting with fans, giving autographs, shaking hands and at the same time, singing his heart out. We are blessed to have been born in his era. I pray to God that he gets much more than what he has now, because he deserves the world."
Meanwhile, the "Kesariya" singer gave a surprise to the attendees and was joined by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran on stage. The duo performed the latter's famous song "Perfect" as the audience simply couldn't keep calm.
