Just hours after Taylor Swift dropped her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl on Friday October 3, the record is already smashing milestones.
Spotify confirmed around 11 hours after its release that the album had set a new record for the most streamed album in a single day in 2025 so far. The previous record belonged to Playboi Carti’s Music, which debuted on March 14.
According to Good Morning America, at Spotify’s Life of a Showgirl pop-up experience in New York City, an incredible 1.2 million users were streaming the album simultaneously at one point.
Taylor later took to Instagram to express her gratitude to fans, sharing an emotional note about the project.
“Tonight all these lives converge here. The mosaics of laughter and cocktails of tears, where fraternal souls sing identical things. And it’s beautiful. It’s rapturous. It is frightening,” she wrote.
She went on to say, “I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right. A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self-portrait.”
Closing her post, Taylor teased fans with, “If you thought the big show was wild, perhaps you should come and take a look behind the curtain... The Life of a Showgirl is out now.”
Taylor Swift’s latest album dominates streaming platforms, with nine of its tracks ranking among the top 10 most-listened-to songs on Apple Music. One track, The Fate of Ophelia, also made it into Amazon Music’s top 10. On Spotify, Swift set a new milestone, surpassing 5 million pre-saves before the album’s official release.
Widely regarded as one of today’s most successful pop stars, Swift is giving her 12th studio album a multi-month promotional campaign, which kicked off with the announcement on her fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast in August.
The pop icon first announced the 12-track project back in August on her fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce’s podcast New Heights, where the reveal instantly created a buzz among fans.
