Electric vehicle (EV) maker Ola Electric has cut the price of the recently launched affordable S1X range of scooters by up to Rs 10,000.
The price of S1X (2 Kwh) has been reduced to Rs 69,999 from Rs 79,999, the company said on April 15. The S1 X also comes in 3 kWh, and 4 kWh battery configurations. The 3kWh will cost Rs 84,999, and S1X (4 kWh) Rs 99,999.
“We believe India’s EV industry has reached an inflection point with the EV penetration in the 2W segment at an all-time high last month. Our S1 X portfolio now addresses the high upfront cost of EVs, which is one of the major barriers to EV adoption," Anshul Khandelwal Ola Electric's Chief Marketing Officer, said.
In February, the company launched its S1X EV range, marking the company’s entry into the mass market segment, with prices starting at Rs 1,09,999 a unit for 4kw range.
"The S1 X, offers a lower cost of ownership, and an 8-year/80,000 km complimentary battery warranty, making it an attractive value-proposition in the market," Khandelwal said.
The announcement comes a few weeks after rival Ather launched its first-ever family scooter, Rizta, at a starting price of Rs 1,09,999 per unit.
In June 2023, Ola Electric said it would build an EV hub in Tamil Nadu, comprising an Ola Future Factory and a gigafactory along with co-located suppliers. Its Krishnagiri facility in Tamil Nadu has an annual capacity of 1 million units.
