With just a few days left until the launch of the Jawa motorcycles, the brand has released its first teaser video. The bike is scheduled to be unveiled on November 15 and will likely be joined by four more concepts based on the Jawa platform.
The video shows a bike being drive through a country road and while most of it is hidden from view, the video clearly showcases the exhaust note. The company did stress that the exhausts have been designed to mimic the Jawas of old and while a four-stroke engine cannot match the iconic sound of a two-stroke, it does bring out the vintage feel with a bassy, throaty purr.
What can also be noted from this is how different it sounds from the Royal Enfield. While both bikes will compete in the same segment -- playing with sentimental value for sales -- the Jawa's engine is not as low revving as the Enfield's.
Coming to the engine too, the company has revealed just the essential specifications. A BS-VI-ready single cylinder producing 27 PS of power and 28 Nm of torque.
Spy images of the bike have also been doing the rounds which show the bike suspended on telescopic forks and gas-charged twin shock absorbers in the back with a front disc and rear drum brake. The Jawa will try to replicate fully, the style and design form of old with a large dual-tone fuel tank with chrome finish, pinstriped mudguards and a large, flat seat.
While the Jawa will compete with the Royal Enfield Classic range of bikes directly, we expect the price to be priced at a slight premium. For now, watch the teaser here:
