Apple is scheduled to host an event — Let Loose — on May 7. It is expected that Apple will launch new iPad models, including the iPad Pro. Ahead of the event, a report by Bloomberg reveals that Apple may spring a surprise and power the iPad Pro with M4 processors.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, there is a “strong possibility” of the new iPad Pro being powered by the M4 processor. As per Gurman, Apple will position the iPad Pro as its “first truly AI-powered device”. Also, Gurman says that each new product which comes after the iPad will be pitched as an AI device.
As per Gurman, Apple’s move of launching the iPad Pro ahead of WWDC in June could give the company a chance to lay out its AI chip strategy. He said that at WWDC, Apple could showcase how the iPad Pro and the M4 processors could take advantage of all the AI features expected to be announced for iPadOS 18.
If Apple does launch the iPad Pro with the M4 processor, then it would be the first time a new processor would come with a device which isn’t a Mac.
As far as the event is concerned, it is expected that a new 11-inch iPad Pro alongside a 13-inch iPad Pro could be launched. If Apple launches the 13-inch iPad Pro, it would be the biggest iPad — as per display size — model yet.
Currently, the 12.9-inch model is the biggest iPad available. Multiple rumours suggest both iPad Pro models are expected to feature an OLED display. The current models have a micro LED panel and the move to OLED will give iPads more brightness and better viewing experience.
It is expected that Apple will refresh the Air lineup with a bigger model. The iPad Air could come with a 12.9-inch display for the first time.
