Tens of thousands of demonstrators descended on Washington and at hundreds of rallies across the United States to demand that lawmakers pass legislation aimed at curbing gun violence following last month's massacre at a Texas elementary school.
The demonstrations, organized by March for Our Lives, were a reprise of rallies sponsored by the student group that drew hundreds of thousands of people in 2018, after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
Police rushed to an "active shooter investigation" at a public transit maintenance yard in San Jose -- a Silicon Valley tech hub of almost million people -- after multiple 911 calls reported gunshots.
