"We are planning to sell-off both these subsidiaries and we aim at raising about Rs 40 crore of capital through this sale subject to board of directors' approval", Mayank Agrawal, CEO of Gallantt Ispat told CNBC-TV18.
The firm claims its production has doubled since November last year and is operating at 70 per cent capacity utilisation at present resulting in an improvement in Ebidta margin, which has risen to 18-20 per cent from 5 per cent in November 2015.
NMDC's average realisation in the first three quarters of the current fiscal stood at Rs 3,823 per tonne against Rs 4,019 per tonne in the entire last fiscal, company documents showed. In the previous two fiscals, the average realization was even better.
Pellets are value-added products of leftover material or low grade iron ore and are used in steel-making. In recent times, they have emerged as a major product for iron and steel industry in the country due to scarcity of ore in some regions following mining bans in Karnataka and Goa.
Russian steel producer Severstal today said it hopes to sort out differences on shareholding issue for the proposed steel-making joint venture with NMDC that involves Rs 16,000 crore investment in Karnataka.
