Just Stop Oil climate protesters on Monday smashed the glass cover of the "Rokeby Venus" painting by Spanish artist Diego Velazquez at London's National Portrait Gallery
Just Stop Oil has denied responsibility for disrupting George Osborne’s wedding while applauding the protester who threw orange confetti on him and his wife.
"We are aware of protesters on the Lord's Cricket Ground pitch today. Police have arrested three people and taken them into custody," the Metropolitan Police said on Twitter.
The stunt comes after activists threw soup at Vincent van Gogh's "Sunflowers" at the National Gallery in London on October 14 and smeared mashed potato over a Claude Monet painting in Germany.
Van Gogh and tomato soup may have made the headlines, but climate change activists, in the Western world, are equal opportunity disruptors. Banks, oil companies, car showrooms and sports tournaments, have faced the ire of climate protesters.
UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman said she was introducing stronger legislation this week to counter citizen protests by groups such as Just Stop Oil and Extinction Rebellion.
