Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia were part of the protest over sexual harassment allegations against Singh in 2023
Phogat's allegations suggest that the removal of security could compromise the safety of the wrestlers and potentially impact their ability to provide testimony.
Brij Bhushan, his son Karan and son-in-law Vishal Singh (Bihar wrestling body chief) are not in the fray for any post, following assurances given by the Sports Minister to the wrestlers that none of the BJP leader’s relatives will be part of the new WFI governing body.
Taking cognisance of the chargesheet, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal directed Brij Bhushan to appear before the court on July 18.
The city police had filed a charge sheet against Singh, also a BJP MP, under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC on June 15.
The startling admission by the father substantially weakens the case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who has relentlessly faced protest for the past six months by wrestlers, who have accused him of sexual harassment.
She also demanded the immediate release of the female wrestlers and their families by the Delhi Police.
