Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 25 promised “first-time voters” that “their dreams are his resolve”. While interacting with newly registered voters during the Namo Navmatdata Sammelan via video conference, the PM urged them to be part of the key democratic exercise.
While emphasising the value of casting votes, PM Modi told the young voters that their voice will decide the country's path ahead. “You have become an important part of the democratic system now as your names have been registered in the voter list. You all have been enrolled in the voter list at a time when the country is going through its 'Amrit Kaal’," he said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the responsibility they carry in building a developed India by 2047. "You all have a great opportunity to decide how you can get your names etched with golden letters in a developed India. Our speed, direction, and approach will be decided by you all, and voting will be one big medium of it," he said.
Swipe at opposition parties
The PM said the youth is against corruption and nepotism. “Family-run parties never allow other youngsters to move ahead, you have to defeat them with your votes. 10-12 years ago, the kind of circumstances prevailing in the country had made the youth's future dark…We are satisfied that we were able to bring the country out of that dark situation… earlier corruption, scams made headlines, now talk is about credibility, success stories,” he said.

Dubbing Gen-Z as “Amreet Peedhi”, PM Modi said, "On this day, to be among first-time voters fills me with energy. You have now become the most important part of the democratic process...In the next 25 years, you have to determine both the future of Bharat and your own.”
National Voters' Day is celebrated every year on January 25 to mark the foundation of India's Election Commission. Various voter awareness campaigns and events are held at national, district, and booth levels. This year's celebration also marks the anniversary of the Election Commission.
