Telangana's new ministers assigned portfolios; CM Revanth Reddy keeps home, law and order

Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, the state's first deputy chief minister, will be heading the crucial portfolios of finance & planning and energy.

Telangana's newly sworn-in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on December 9 submitted the list of ministers' portfolios to Governor Tamilsai Soundarajan. As per the list, Reddy has assigned himself a slew of key portfolios, including law and order and urban development.

The chief minister would also be heading the home department, general administration and municipal administration, along with all other portfolios that are yet to be allocated.

Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, the deputy chief minister who is the first member from the state's Dalit community to be appointed to the post, would be heading the crucial portfolios of finance & planning and energy.

Senior Congress leader N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who was also among the 11 ministers who took oath on December 7, has been assigned irrigation, food and civil supplies portfolios.

C Damodar Rajanarasimha, a veteran state politician who last served as a minister in the Kiran Kumar Reddy-led government before Andhra Pradesh's bifurcation, will be heading the ministries of health, medical and family welfare, along with science and technology.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who was part of the erstwhile YSR government of un-bifurcated Andhra Pradesh, has been given the charge of roads and buildings, and cinematography in the Revanth Reddy-led government.

Among the two women ministers part of the government, Konda Surekha would be heading the ministries of forest and environment, and endowments, and D Anasuya alias Seethakka would be handling panchayat raj, women and child welfare and rural development.

The backward class welfare and transport ministries would be headed by Ponnam Prabhakar, whereas, D Sridhar Babu has been assigned the portfolios of industries and IT, along with legislative affairs.

The ministries of excise, tourism and culture have been given to Jupally Krishna Rao.

An expansion in the council of ministers is expected in the upcoming days, as six more ministers can be accommodated in the government.
