Police today registered a case against BJP's National Executive member V Muraleedharan and 50 others for raising provocative slogans against CPI(M) Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan during the saffron party's 'Janaraksha Yatra' at Kuthuparamba on October 6.

A senior police official said a case has been registered against them under Section 153 of IPC (for wantonly causing provocation with intent to cause riot) Muraleedharan had also posted in his Facebook page, the slogans being raised by party workers against Jayarajan, the official said.

Reacting to registering of the case, the BJP leader said "by filing such a case if someone feels they can weaken the party or me, they are living in a fool's paradise." BJP president Amit Shah had launched a 15-day statewide "padayatra" (foot march) from Payyannur in Kannur district of Kerala on October 3 to expose the ruling CPI(M)'s "red terrorism" and "political fascism" in the state.
