Assembly Elections 2016: LDF set to return to power in Kerala

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is leading by around 6,884 votes in Puthupally over his nearest CPM rival Jaik P Thomas after first round of counting.

Counting for the 140-member Kerala Assembly is underway. CPM headed LDF in Kerala was leading in 80+ seats of the 140 Assembly constituencies while ruling Congress-led UDF is ahead in over 50 seats, according to early trends after the first round of counting.

CPM headed LDF has won in 3 constituencies.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is leading by around 6,884 votes in Puthupally over his nearest CPM rival Jaik P Thomas after first round of counting.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has also thrown its hat in the ring and is trying to win a few seats in the state. BJP is leading in a mere 2 seats according to early trends.
