WhatsApp finally begins testing multi-account supportWhatsApp is rolling out its long-awaited multi-account feature to some iOS beta testers. Users can now switch between different WhatsApp accounts directly from the settings page without logging out or restarting the app. Each account keeps its own chats, notifications, and preferences, making the switching experience smooth and instant. Beta testers can now add and manage multiple profilesWith the latest iOS 25.34.10.72 beta, testers are seeing a new “Account List” section that lets them add an extra WhatsApp account. This means users no longer need a second device or WhatsApp Business to handle multiple numbers. Currently, WhatsApp allows up to two accounts on the same device. New accounts can be fresh, existing, or added via QR codeUsers can create a completely new WhatsApp account, add an existing one used on another phone or WhatsApp Business, or link a companion account by scanning a QR code. Once added, the companion account syncs messages and settings automatically, making multi-number management far more flexible. Each WhatsApp account keeps its own settings and backupsEvery account added to WhatsApp remains completely independent. Chat histories, backups, notification tones, and privacy options like last seen or profile picture visibility all stay separate. Even muted chats and media auto-download settings do not overlap, giving users full control over each profile’s behavior inside one app. Notifications now clearly show which account received a messageTo avoid confusion, WhatsApp has improved notifications for multi-account users. Even if an account isn’t active, incoming messages still trigger alerts. These notifications display both the sender’s name and the account name that received the message, helping users quickly identify which profile needs their attention.
