J&K L-G Manoj Sinha’s Wikipedia bio tampered, ‘Secretly supports freedom of Kashmir’ added

The Wikipedia page of Manoj Sinha – the newly-appointed Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir – was tampered with on August 6, shortly after his appointment was announced.

Sinha’s appointment as the new L-G of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir came as a surprise as it was announced in less than 24 hours after GC Murmu’s resignation.

The buzz around the news was high enough to translate into a prank with unidentified persons tampering with his Wiki bio. Two sweeping statements were added: “He (Sinha) will store 4G in Kashmir (sic)” and “he is secretly supporting freedom of Kashmir from illegal Indian Occupation. He won’t admit publicly”.

The statements were removed, and the page was restored to its original format later.

High-speed internet services were suspended in Kashmir ahead of the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, and the residents have since been clamouring for the restoration of 4G.
