The ministry of railways has directed social media platform X (formerly twitter) to take down around 285 links of videos, which showed casualties related to the New Delhi railway station stampede that resulted in the deaths of at least 18 individuals on February 15, a report by Hindustan Times said.
The move marks the ministry’s one of first major content enforcement actions since it gained direct takedown powers in December last year, the report said. It also added that the videos “may affect the operations” of the Indian Railways amid “huge rush of trains these days”.
The ministry’s order was based on “ethical norms” and X’s own content policy for such videos that can create “law and order situations”, the newspaper said. The social media platform was asked to act within 36 hours, HT said citing sources.

At least 18 people, including 14 women, were killed and over a dozen injured in the stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station late on February 15 night.
The incident took place around 10 pm on platforms 14 and 15, where a massive crowd had gathered to board trains to Prayagraj for the ongoing Maha Kumbh.
According to Delhi Police, the surge of passengers led to a stampede, triggering widespread panic and casualties.
