    2.93 lakh ration card holders did take ration for 3 months

    As many as 2.93 lakh ration card holders did not turn up to receive rations for three months and none of them filed any complained to the government since the introduction of biometric-linked system for foodgrain distribution, the Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Department said. It said that 99.4 percent of the beneficiaries of the food security scheme had taken their ration after biometric authentication through the e-point of sale (e-POS) system was introduced on January 1.

    Govt initiates action for removal of Allahabad CEO, 2 PNB directors

    The government today initiated the process to remove Allahabad Bank CEO Usha Ananthasubramanian and two executive directors of Punjab National Bank in connection with USD 2 billion fraud perpetuated by diamond jeweller Nirav Modi in connivance with PNB officials. Following the government's directive, which came within hours of CBI filing a charge sheet in the country's biggest ever banking fraud case, the PNB board divested its two executive directors, K V Brahmaji Rao and Sanjiv Sharan, of all financial and executive powers. The board of Allahabad Bank will meet tomorrow and is likely to divest its CEO and MD Ananthasubramanian of all powers. She was the managing director of PNB till May 5 last year.

    Supreme Court sets up panel to auction Unitech's properties


    The Supreme Court today set up a three-member panel headed by former Delhi High Court judge Justice S N Dhingra for "expeditious" auction of real estate major Unitech Ltd's unencumbered immovable properties of over 600 acres to refund the money to hassled home buyers. Considering the plight of home buyers who are "waiting with concern to get their money refunded", a bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra gave the liberty to Justice Dhingra to nominate a Chartered Accountant and a valuer for speedy auction of over 600 acres of unencumbered land of the firm.

    NALCO sets Rs 9,350 cr revenue target for FY19


    State-owned NationalAluminiumCompany Limited (NALCO) today said it has set a 15 percent higher target of Rs 9,350 crore revenues from operations in the current fiscal.The CPSE has inked an MoU with the Ministry of Mines in this regard, which also includes a capex plan of Rs 1,100 crore for the current fiscal.

    The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has directed the following reallocation of portfolios amongst the members of the Union Council of Ministers:-


    (i) During the period of indisposition of Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister; the portfolios of Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs held by him, be temporarily assigned to Shri Piyush Goyal, in addition to his existing portfolios.


    (ii) Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore be assigned the independent charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in place of Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, presently Minister of Information and Broadcasting.


    (iii) Shri SSAhluwalia, Minister of State be relieved of the charge of Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation and assigned the portfolio of Ministry of State in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.

    Life insurers' new biz premium up 4% at Rs 7,280cr in April

    New business premium of life insurance companies grew moderately by 4.16 percent to Rs 7,279.98 crore in April, 2018, according to the Irdai data. All 24 life insurers had generated Rs 6,989.51 crore as premium income from new policies in the same month last year.

    Supreme Court grants bail to aide of ex-NOIDA chief engineer in graft case

    The Supreme Court today granted bail to a contractor in a corruption case, which also involves Yadav Singh, a former top officer of Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Authority. The top court said the accused had allegedly caused a loss of Rs 18.64 crore, but Rs 18.38 crore has been secured by Noida Authority and the Enforcement Directorate.

    Reliance Infra board approves raising up to Rs 3,000 cr via equity shares issue

    Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) today said its board has approved raising up to Rs 3,000 crore by issuance of equity shares to its existing shareholders or qualified institutional investors to bolster long-term resources. "The board approved the company augmenting long-term resources by issue of equity shares by way of rights issue to the existing shareholders and/or through Qualified Institutions Placement, for an amount up to Rs 3,000 crore," the company said in a filing to BSE.
