Mahua Moitra, Trinamool Congress lawmaker from West Bengal’s Krishnanagar, recently tied the knot with former BJD leader Pinaki Misra in an intimate ceremony in Germany. Now, a video of the newlyweds dancing to a Bollywood classic melody has gone viral on social media platforms. In the video, Moitra and Misra can be seen waltzing to ‘Raat Ke Humsafar’ from Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore’s An Evening in Paris.
On June 5, Moitra officially announced the wedding via her X account, writing: “Thank you everyone for the love and good wishes!! So grateful,” alongside a picture of the couple cutting their wedding cake. While Misra opted for a classic kurta-pyjama paired with a powder pink Nehru jacket, Moitra chose a light pink silk Benarasi saree with minimalistic jewellery for her special day.
Moitra, born on October 12, 1974, in Assam, started off as an investment banker and later joined politics. She made her electoral debut in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when she won the Krishnanagar seat in West Bengal. She has won the seat in 2024 general polls as well. This is second wedding for both Misra and Moitra. While the Trinamool lawmaker was previously married to Danish financier Lars Brorson, Misra had married Sangita Misra. The senior advocate has two children from his first marriage.
