The Karnataka government will set up a deep-tech park in Jangamakote, about 50 km from the state capital Bengaluru, large and medium industries and Infrastructure development minister MB Patil has said.

"Jangamakote in Chikkaballapur will be developed as a leading deep-tech park for space technology, semiconductors, robotics, medical devices, electric vehicles, drones, and high-tech manufacturing in electronics, aerospace and defence," the minister said in a post on X platform on March 20.

It is crucial for high-tech industries to be located near a metro city and an international airport, making Jangamakote an ideal location, the minister said.

The government proposes to name it Sir MV deep-tech park after Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a pioneering civil engineer who is best known for designing the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Mysuru.

Patil said farmers in Jangamakote, which is the Shidlaghatta taluk, were ready to hand over 1,033 acre of land to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) in lieu of fair compensation, employment opportunities and development of the area.

“Their demands will be reviewed with the concerned authorities, and an appropriate decision will be taken," he wrote.

"There are several other industrial areas in various stages of acquisition and development, including those in Belagavi, Ballari, Davangere, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Kolar, and Coastal Karnataka," Patil said.

It will bring together industrialists and investors to discuss technology, investments, and policy reforms, shaping plans for the next six months. Officials will also receive training in communication, policy awareness and social media, Patil said.
