Bengaluru-based John Distilleries Limited (JDL) has earmarked Rs 600 crore for setting up a plant on a 30-acre land in Karnataka, Business Standard reported.
The company aims at 150 cases of single malt and 2.3 crore cases of all other brands together by the end of the financial year 2025, the report added.
JDL Chairman Paul P John told the publication that the Karnataka plant is planned as a greenfield project with a projected investment of about Rs 500-600 crore. "We are open to discussions with other states and may consider relocating if they offer more favourable incentives. Within the next 3-4 years, we need to put up another plant serving at least a capacity of 12,000 litres per day,” he said.
JDL plans to launch the highly sought-after Weller Bourbon Whiskey variants — Special Reserve and 12-Year — in November, priced at approximately Rs 4,500 and Rs 8,500, in partnership with Sazerac, the report stated.
The chairman also spoke about the company’s plans to roll out two vodka variants. One will be priced lower similar to the Original Choice portfolio. This is expected within the next six months. The another will target the high-end segment, anticipated by next year. JDL will also soon be adding another gin to its Roulette portfolio, the report added.

In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol last month, John spoke about upcoming launches. "We are on the verge of launching a lot of new products. An aged sipping rum is in the works. Hopefully within the next few months, we should be able to launch it. Then we have a Madeira finish - sherry cask finish - that is going to be launched soon."
