The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday officially appointed Nitin Nabin as the new working president. The official felicitation ceremony took place at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. Many senior leaders from the party were present at the grand ceremony.
Nabin arrived at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here from Patna in the afternoon, a day after his appointment as the BJP national working president. He was received at the airport by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and several other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
The BJP’s parliamentary board on Sunday (December 14, 2025) notified the appointment of Bihar Minister and five-term MLA Nitin Nabin as the party’s national working president, ending months of suspense.
When he was just 26 years of age, Nabin was fielded by the BJP from Patna West assembly seat in 2006 after it fell vacant due to the death of his father and veteran party leader Navin Kishore Sinha. The choice for the party's top post left everyone surprised, again, as the BJP has been known for naming dark horses for key positions. Nabin himself was busy attending public functions in his constituency, where he thanked party workers for his victory in the elections.
Nabin, 45, a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar, was appointed as the national working president of the BJP on Sunday and is likely to eventually succeed Nadda as its national president, signalling a generational shift in the ruling party. The son of late BJP veteran and former MLA Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, Nabin is considered dynamic, ideologically rooted and deeply committed to the organisation, party leaders said.
He also comes from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) background. A five-time MLA, Nabin represents the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna and has twice served as a minister in the Bihar government. His tenures as a Bihar minister and role as the party in-charge of Chhattisgarh have been truly outstanding and marked by his effective organisational leadership.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself showered effusive praise on Nabin's appointment as national working president, saying he has distinguished himself as a hardworking Karyakarta. "He is a young and industrious leader with rich organisational experience and has an impressive record as MLA as well as Minister in Bihar for multiple terms. He has diligently worked to fulfil people's aspirations.
