The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the continuation of cold wave conditions in northern parts of India, including Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, and some areas of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on January 11.
Dense fog conditions are likely to persist during morning hours in isolated areas of northwest India, including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next 4-5 days. Additionally, hilly regions like Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are expected to experience fog conditions on January 11 and 12

Furthermore, ground frost conditions are expected to occur in hilly regions like Uttarakhand and Himalayan on January 11 and 12. On Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh's Sissu lake in the trans-Himalayan region of Lahaul Spiti froze after the temperature dropped to as low as -15 degrees Celsius. Ground frost conditions were also observed at isolated places in Uttarakhand (Tehri and Mukteshwar) on Wednesday. Additionally, isolated hailstorm activity was reported in northwest Madhya Pradesh (Bhind and Gwalior).
Meanwhile, Delhi on Wednesday morning had some light fog in certain areas. The city is currently going through cold weather with clear skies. According to the weather forecast agency, the temperature is likely to decrease by 2-3°C in various parts of central and east India in the next 3-4 days.
Because of a cyclonic circulation over the eastern equatorial Indian Ocean, there is a forecast for light to moderate rainfall in certain areas of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and Lakshadweep over the next two days.
