I-T Department conducts 100 searches across 4 metros

The Income Tax Department furthered tightened the noose on tax evaders conducting over 100 raids across four metros in the country. The taxman is targeting individuals who haven’t come clean even after the government announced Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

The taxman’s investigation spans over 100 shell companies and citizens who failed to disclose unaccounted income under the disclosure scheme, sources told CNBC-TV18.

The probe has found out that BSP supremo Mayawati’s brother Anant Kumar allegedly diverted about Rs 100 crore through shell companies, chit funds and other such dubious means, sources said.
