Father of MP Priya Saroj denies engagement of daughter with cricketer Rinku Singh: Report

Father of Samajwadi Party’s Lok Sabha MP Priya Saroj, on January 17, denied media reports claiming engagement of his daughter with India cricketer Rinku Singh.

However, the MP's father Tufani Saroj confirmed that the cricketer’s family has sent a marriage proposal that they are considering seriously, News18 reported citing a report by ABP Live.

The report said that Rinku's family has initiated a conversation over the marriage proposal with Tufani's elder son-in-law, who is currently in Aligarh working as CJM.

So far, neither Rinku nor Priya have officially confirmed the development, according to .

Singh is a regular feature in India’s T20I setup and was among the reserve players of the Rohit Sharma-led squad that won the world cup last year. He is expected to return to action with the upcoming five-match T20I series against England starting next week.

Priya Saroj became a first-time MP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, representing Uttar Pradesh’s Macchlishahr constituency. She emerged victorious after defeating BJP’s BP Saroj by over 35,000 votes. Her father has been a a three-time MP and currently MLA from Kerakat.
