Union defence minister Rajnath Singh on May 9 held a crucial meeting with service chiefs and the chief of defence staff to review the security situation amid escalating tensions with Pakistan.
Singh held a high-level meeting the Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan also attended the meeting.
“Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh today chaired a high-level meeting at South Block, New Delhi to review the security situation along the western border and operational preparedness of the Indian #ArmedForces. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh attended the meeting,” the ministry of defence said in a statement on X.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of increasing hostilities between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, under which New Delhi targeted nine terror hubs in Pakistan. The strikes were in response to Pahalgam terrorist attacks that led to the death of 26 civilians in April.
Pakistan, in retaliation, has targeted several cities along the western border in the last two days. Indian armed forces have effectively repulsed all these attacks from.
