As many as 13,203 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported, with India’s total COVID-19 cases now above 1.06 crore, as per health ministry’s January 25, 2021 update. New cases were below the 20,000-mark for the 18th day in a row.
India reported 131 new deaths (lowest in 8 months, since May 17) and 13,298 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the latest release shows. Active cases dropped to 1,84,182 with a fall of 226 cases on January 25.
As many as 16,15,504 beneficiaries have been vaccinated across India, according to the January 25 update.
Kerala reported the most (6,036) new cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Maharashtra (2,752), Karnataka (573), Tamil Nadu (569) and Gujarat (410). These five states account for 78 percent of all the new cases reported in India.

Maharashtra also reported the most (45) new deaths, followed by Kerala (20), Delhi (9), Chhattisgarh (8), Uttar Pradesh (8) and West Bengal (9). These six states account for 75 percent of all the new deaths reported across the country.
About 15 states and union territories--Andaman and Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli/Daman and Diu, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan and Tripura did not report any deaths today.
India’s recovery rate is now 96.8 percent. Dadra Nagar Haveli/Daman & Diu record the highest (99.8 percent) recovery rate. In terms of cases, Kerala recorded 5,173 new recoveries, the most, followed by Maharashtra (1,743), Gujarat (704), Tamil Nadu (642) and Uttar Pradesh (508).

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India is now at 1,06,67,736 with 1,03,30,084 recoveries and 1,53,470 deaths as per January 25, update. The mortality rate in the country now stands at 1.4 percent with Punjab reporting the highest (3.2 percent). Less than 6 lakh daily tests were reported on January 24 with more than 19.23 crore tests carried out till date.

Despite the high number of cases and deaths reported by India, the country fares better when compared with other nations in terms of per million population.
