Empowering individuals and communities to embrace sustainable practices while improving their socio-economic status, forging a path towards a more equitable and resilient future

Climate change has emerged as the single-biggest concern for nations as citizens continue to face the brunt of the after-effects of development measures taken to ramp up economic growth.

Erosion of green cover has been the prime casualty over the years and although steps have been taken to mitigate the impact of the damage done to flora and fauna, it will take years of dedicated efforts from citizens and government agencies to undo the damage caused.

In order to tackle climate woes, it is imperative to look out for sustainable solutions that will ensure holistic development of the environment and citizens.  The real India resides in Bharat. India’s real progress will be possible when Bharat makes progress and Bharat’s inhabitants are empowered.

Enhancing the income levels of farmers, access to appropriate irrigation facilities, improving school infrastructure, providing access to potable water and irrigation, and promoting alternative energy sources such as solar, biogas, and biomass energy are ways of ensuring holistic development.

For instance, HDFC Bank Parivartan has impacted over 10 crore lives across the length and breadth of the country over the past decade, while maintaining the institution’s commitment to the conservation of environment.

As part of its holistic interventions, over 13,000 water conservation structures have been developed; over 55,000 solar lights installed and 57,980 kitchen gardens created and more than 13,000 biogas stoves have been deployed in rural India.

According to its annual report, HDFC Bank spent Rs 945.32 crore in FY 2023-24 on its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, almost Rs 125 crore more than FY 2022-23. The bank is among the country’s top spenders on CSR, meaningfully contributing to various community initiatives.

Empowering individuals and communities to embrace sustainable practices while improving their socio-economic status, forging a path towards a more equitable and resilient future are the core ideals towards building a bright future for citizens.
