As visuals of the Air India Express flight crash at Kozhikode airport emerge, one cannot help but be reminded of an eerily similar and unfortunate accident that occurred a decade ago.

The Air India aircraft that crashed earlier this evening while landing at the Kozhikode airport in Kerala brought back memories of the 2010 crash.

In May 2010, an Air India Express flight from Dubai went down at the time of landing at the international airport in Mangalore. Nearly 160 people lost their lives in the 2010 crash. Even back then, the plane had split into two. There were only around eight survivors in the 2010 accident, most of whom reportedly jumped out the aircraft. The crash has been termed as one of India's worst aviation disasters.

Meanwhile, the Indian Consulate in Dubai will remain open on August 8 to help those who need assistance to travel to Kerala and provide information about the crash.
